Proposed Analysis: The project's vision is the incorporation of neuroimaging biomarkers in clinical practice for early diagnosis and risk stratification in the field of Alzheimer's disease. More specifically, this project will use resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) with focus on the antagonistic interactions between different brain regions. We aim at: 1) identifying a measure of between-network anticorrelations for use in the field of Alzheimer's disease, 2) describing the differences in this measure between groups at the different stages of the Alzheimer's spectrum (asymptomatic, mild cognitive impairment and clinical dementia) and 3) verifying if this measure can correctly distinguish patients from controls and predict if a person with mild cognitive impairment will develop Alzheimer's dementia. The final goal of this project is to identify a measure of between-network antagonism that improves the prediction of risk for future dementia due to Alzheimer's disease.
