Proposed Analysis: I am researching the use of AI to detect Alzheimer's disease from an MRI scan. MRI technology has advanced significantly in recent years, allowing for detailed brain structure and function analysis. The use of AI algorithms in medical imaging could potentially improve the accuracy and efficiency of diagnosing Alzheimer's, a neurodegenerative disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. One potential benefit of using AI to detect Alzheimer's from MRI scans is the ability to identify early signs of the disease. Early detection is crucial for the development of effective treatments and interventions, and AI algorithms could potentially identify subtle changes in brain structure and function that may indicate the presence of Alzheimer's. Additionally, AI algorithms could automate the diagnostic process, reducing the reliance on the subjective interpretation of MRI scans and improving the reliability of diagnoses. However, using AI in medical imaging raises essential ethical and legal considerations. For example, there may be concerns about the accuracy and reliability of AI-based diagnostic tools and the potential for bias in the algorithms we are using. Additionally, there may be concerns about the privacy and confidentiality of medical data and the need for appropriate safeguards to protect patient's personal information. Overall, this research could explore the benefits and limitations of using AI to detect Alzheimer's from MRI scans and provide data for further research. We are also collaborating with the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center and have obtained the MRI scans they provided us.
