Proposed Analysis: | The proposed project is for an undergraduate machine learning in bioengineering course at the University of California, Los Angeles. The data from ADNI will be used for the course's final project. Our class has learned several statistical analysis techniques for biological data from LASSO, Ridge Regression, PCA, PCR, PLSR and more. Our goal with the ADNI data is to perform a PLSR analysis on several parameters such as age, demographic, SNPs, and more to analyze their correlation to an output that is telling of Alzheimer's, whether that be Abeta 42 to Abeta 40 ratios or an analysis on PET scan images. Our hope is to find strong correlations between different parameters and Alzheimer's disease progression in order to reinforce current understandings of the disease or even shed light on new pathways. |
