Proposed Analysis: | Our research plan is to incorporate diffusion MRI, fMRI, and PET data from the ADNI into a mathematical model to predict Alzheimer's disease early. Specifically, we will first calculate structural connections from Alzheimer's diffusion MRI data. By implementing these connections in the network model of neural fields, we will construct a whole-brain model and perform simulations. We then implement the density maps for each brain region from PET Aβ and Tau data and local excitatory-inhibitory coupling as parameters in this whole-brain model, and estimate parameters that generate healthy fMRI dynamics. By comparing these parameters at the level of Alzheimer's progression, we hope to predict Alzheimer's progression and estimate the etiology of Alzheimer's disease, and contribute to early detection of Alzheimer's disease and discovery of biomarkers through our mathematical modeling approach. |
