Proposed Analysis: Heterogeneity in brain and cognitive ageing has been observed in many studies: some individuals age more healthily than others; some are less susceptible to age-related neurodegenerative pathological changes; and some maintain brain integrity and cognitive capacity despite the development of neuropathology. The concepts of brain resistance and brain resilience are therefore proposed to describe the different dimensions of observed individual differences in brain and cognitive ageing trajectories. Brain resistance is defined as the ability of the brain to avoid age-related changes in ageing and pathology. Brain resilience refers to the brain's ability to cope with the accumulating ageing and pathological changes in the face of significant pathological burdens and to maintain brain integrity (brain resilience) or cognitive function (cognitive resilience) in the face of significant pathological burdens. We intend to use multi-omics data to construct a model of brain resistance/resilience in AD patients and to assess the influence of social factors such as education, mental health, lifestyle on it.
