Proposed Analysis: My research focuses on multi-modal data fusion: the act of combining different types of data in the pursuit of a common goal. I am creating a library of multi-modal data fusion methods based on deep-learning/machine-learning techniques. The different data types I am investigating are currently structural brain MRI (whole-brain and extracted volumes) and clinical characteristics. I propose to use the ADNI dataset to investigate how well these different multi-modal data fusion methods perform at a number of tasks: time-to-event (such as progression from MCI to AD), binary classification, and multi-class classification. Using the large ADNI dataset would allow me to accurately compare these models (which has not been done before) and investigate the interactions between the modalities available in AD research data.
