Proposed Analysis: | I will be conducting a cross-sectional analysis on the relationship between white matter hyperintensities (indicating cerebral small vessel disease) and cognitive performance in older adults. I will be using T1-weighted MRI images to standardize the scans from participants to the MNI-152 brain template, and FLAIR MRI images to identify the white matter hyperintensities. I will be investigating whether cognitive reserve factors (from the demographic data) and psychotic symptoms (from the Neuropsychiatric Inventory) mediate the relationship between white matter hyperintensities and cognitive performance. I will be using the ADNI-3 dataset and assessing whether the findings for the above are similar for the different cohorts (cognitively normal, mild cognitive impairment, mild Alzheimer's disease). |
