| Proposed Analysis: | I am working on the development of a visual rating scale for the evaluation of cerebellar atrophy, similiar to the better known Global Cortical Atrophy Scale and Koedam Scale for evaluation of supratentorial brain atrophy. The end goal is to have a visual rating scale that will be easy to use for the visual analysis of cerebellar atrophy and the differentiation of normal age-related from pathologic cerebellar atrophy. For the first part of this project we would like to analyse the patterns of normal age-related cerebellar atrophy in normal subjects. Although our method of analysis (visual) seems basic compared to automated methods, it is still the way most radiologists will evaluate and describe cerebellar atrophy. Radiological literature on the patterns of trends in age-related cerebellar atrophy on structural MR imaging of the brain are lacking however. |
