| Proposed Analysis: | Data from earlier studies showed that CMV infection was associated with an increased risk of AD and a faster rate of decline in global cognition. A meta-analysis study reported that AD and viral infections share common genes and pathways and suggested that SESN3 and oxidative stress signaling have potential roles in AD. These results suggest that CMV infection may increase the risk of AD in older adults. However, the evidence surrounding the etiology of the AD virus is conflicting and the results are inconsistent. The existing experimental evidence is still insufficient, and more work needs to be done to determine the true relationship between the two |
